Impulsive Culinarian’s BBQ Baby Back Ribs Recipe with Homemade BBQ Sauce
Main Ingredient
- 2 racks Baby Back Ribs
Rub Ingredients
- 1/3 cup Paprika
- 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp Onion Powder
- 1 tbsp Cajun Spice
- 1 tbsp Kosher Salt
BBQ Sauce Ingredients
(Makes 2 cups of BBQ Sauce … Reduce to 1/4 quantities if using just for Ribs)
- 2 tbsp Dairy Free Margarine
- 6 Shallots, peeled & sliced
- 4 Garlic Cloves, peeled & sliced
- 1 cup Ketchup
- 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cup Red Wine
- 1/4 cup Dijon Mustard
- 1/4 cup Bourbon
- 3 tbsp Paprika
- 3 tbsp Chilli Powder
- 1/2 tbsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 tbsp Kosher Salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 275°
- Remove membrane from both racks of ribs and trim if necessary
- Combine all rub ingredients in a mixing bowl
- Prepare 2 long sheets of tinfoil each lined with a piece of parchment paper
- Lay each rack of ribs in their respective wrap
- Completely cover each wrack of rips with all of the rub
- Tightly seal each foil packet and transfer them to a large baking sheet
- Bake in the center rack for 3 to 4 hours
- Warm a medium sauce pan over medium heat
- Add margarine & onions to the sauce pan and saute stirring occasionally until just starting to turn golden, around 5 minutes
- Add garlic to the saucepan and saute for an additional 2 minutes
- Add all remaining BBQ sauce ingredients and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes
- Using a hand blender, puree the sauce until smooth
- Reduce heat to minimum and let simmer for another 15 minutes
- Remove BBQ sauce from heat and set aside
- When ribs are almost done baking, heat BBQ grill over medium heat
- Remove ribs from oven and set aside to cool for 15 minutes
- Bring the sauce and baking sheet with your ribs near the BBQ
- Gently open the foil packs and generously coat the racks with BBQ sauce on both sides
- Carefully transfer the ribs to your BBQ, grill for 3 minutes on the top side
- Transfer to a serving plate
- Transfer remaining BBQ sauce to a serving dish
- Indulge immediately
