This Saturday our menu plan called for the following.
Protein: Organic Beef
Vegetable: Lots of them
Side: Gluten Free Biscuits
Organic Braised Beef Stew
Almost every weekend I think to myself, “have I braised anything too recently to do it again?” This weekend the craving was too strong and I simply had to make some braised beef stew. Gathering together lots of yummy organic vegetables, a beautiful selection if organic beef cubes, and a nice bottle of home-made red wine, I was ready for the deliciousness to begin.
For those who don’t know, my wife is pescatarian and each meal we share always takes this into account. One of the main goals of menu planning in the first place was so that we could together as a family. This Saturday the challenge would be to make a braised mushroom stew along side the beef one, and as happens sometimes, I dare say the vegetarian variant was so good I suprised myself; maybe as good if not better than as it’s counterpart!
Gluten Free Biscuits … My Nemesis!
For years I have tinkered with a constantly evolving recipe for gluten free, dsiry free biscuits. I am a VERY picky baker where gluten frer is concerned as I refuse to sacrifice flavour or texture at the expense of a pesky protein. This weekend is the closest I’ve cone so far where texture is concerned but unforgunately fell short for taste. The latest version however has given me new indoiration snd niw I’m stoked to it again soon … more to come I promise.
